Privacy Policy
Last updated October 3, 2026
This policy explains what data Tend collects, why we collect it, how it is stored and shared, and the controls you have. It covers Tend at heytend.me, Tend over text message and iMessage, and the apps you connect to Tend.
Who we are
Tend (“Tend”, “we”, “us”) is an AI assistant for people and small businesses. You talk to it by text or on the web, and, when you connect your accounts, it reads and acts in them for you. Questions about this policy go to hello@heytend.me.
What we collect
- Your phone number. It is your account. You sign in with a one-time code texted to it, and it is where Tend texts you.
- What you tell Tend when you set up, such as your name, your city and time zone, and your routine.
- Your conversations with Tend, by text or on the web, and the files and photos you send it.
- Tend's memory of you: facts, preferences and commitments it notes so it does not have to ask again.
- Your vault, if you use it: logins, addresses and contact details you save so Tend can fill them in on websites for you.
- What Tend does for you: reminders and things it watches for, a log of the actions it takes in your connected accounts, and the pages, documents and files it makes.
- Phone calls Tend places for you, if you ask it to call someone: who it called, why, and the transcript.
We do not use advertising or analytics cookies, tracking pixels or third-party analytics on heytend.me.
Apps you connect
You can connect accounts such as Gmail, Google Calendar, Outlook, Slack, Notion, Google Docs, Google Drive, GitHub, X, LinkedIn, HubSpot, Stripe, QuickBooks, ClickUp, Asana and Klaviyo. You sign in on that service's own page and choose what to allow there.
- Where your sign-in is kept. The access a service grants is held by our connection providers, not in Tend's database: Composio for most apps, and Nango for QuickBooks.
- What Tend reads and changes. Tend reads a connected account when you ask it to, or when a job you set up needs it. It asks you before anything that changes something, such as sending an email, posting, editing a record or creating a campaign, and does it only after you say yes.
- New activity. For some apps, such as email, calendars, Slack, GitHub and Google Drive, Tend is told when something new arrives so it can tell you if it matters.
- What Tend keeps. Tend keeps a log of each action it takes in a connected account, and notes in its memory only what is worth remembering. It does not keep a copy of your mailbox, CRM, store or books.
- Disconnecting. You can disconnect any app at any time, from its settings page in Tend (for example heytend.me/integrations/klaviyo) or by asking us.
Data from connected apps is used only to do what you ask of Tend. We do not sell it, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models.
How we use your data
Only to run Tend for you: to understand what you ask, remember what matters to you, act in your accounts when you want it to, and keep the service working and safe. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Who we share it with
These service providers receive the data they need to do their part in running Tend:
- Hosting: Fly.io, in the United States (Secaucus, New Jersey), where your account, conversations, memory and files are stored.
- AI models: OpenRouter and the model providers it routes to, such as Anthropic, xAI, DeepSeek, OpenAI and Mistral. They receive what Tend needs to answer you, which can include your messages and what Tend found for you.
- Connected apps: Composio and Nango, which hold the access you grant and carry Tend's requests to those apps.
- Text messages: the messaging provider that carries Tend's texts and iMessages to your phone.
- Browsing websites for you: Kernel, which runs the browser Tend uses and keeps the website sign-ins you choose to give it. Vault details you approve are typed into websites there.
- Search and lookups: services such as Exa, Parallel, SerpApi and Firecrawl receive the searches Tend makes for you.
- Deciding what needs your attention: TypeSafe receives new events from your connected apps so Tend can tell what matters.
- Phone calls: ElevenLabs receives who to call and why, when you ask Tend to call someone.
- Quality and safety: Redline receives Tend's conversations and the steps it takes, so we can find and fix mistakes.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect the rights and safety of our users or others, or as part of a merger or sale of our business, in which case this policy continues to apply to your data.
Where your data is processed
Tend is hosted in the United States. Some of the providers above process data in other countries. By using Tend from outside the United States, you understand that your data is processed in the United States and wherever those providers operate.
How long we keep it
- Your account data is kept while your account exists.
- The log of actions in your connected apps keeps your latest 500 actions.
- One-time reminders are deleted once they fire.
- The links Tend sends you expire: most within 24 hours, file links within 7 days.
- Server logs are kept for 7 days, and disk snapshots for 5 days.
Your choices and rights
In the app you can delete saved vault items, documents, reminders, things Tend watches for, things Tend remembers, and your phone number, and you can disconnect any app.
You can also ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete your account and everything in it. Write to hello@heytend.me from the phone number or email you use with Tend so we can find your account. We reply within 30 days. Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA may give you these and other rights, and we honour them for everyone. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context advertising.
Security
Everything between you and Tend travels over HTTPS. Tend's disk is encrypted at rest, your vault is encrypted with AES-256-GCM, and sign-ins to the apps you connect are held by our connection providers, not by Tend. Read more on our Security page.
Children
Tend is not for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us data, write to us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, we update this page and its date. If a change matters to how your data is used, we tell you before it takes effect.
